Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme

Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) was introduced to encourage higher technical and professional education for the dependent wards of Ex Servicemen / Ex Coast Guard personnel and their widows (below officer rank only).

Total 2750 of Scholarship to be sanctioned equally for both girls & boys under PMSS will be given for the each academic year in addition to renewal cases of previous years. Shortfall in fresh cases shall not be adjusted from girls/boys, if applicants (Boys/Girls) are selected less than 1000.

Scholarship Amount

  • Rs. 3000/-per month for girls, to be paid annually after selection at Rs 36000.

  • Rs 2500/- per month for boys, to be paid annually after selection at Rs 30000.

Duration of Scholarship

Up to five years (depending upon the duration of the course being pursued by the applicant and as approved by the respective regulatory body).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Wards/widows of deceased CAPFs & AR personnel died in harness/election duty, wards of personnel disabled due to causes attributable to Government service and Wards of Ex-CAPFs & AR personnel in receipt of Gallantry Awards.

  • Wards/widows of retired and serving CAPFs & AR Personnel. (Personnel below Officer Rank)

  • Pursuing first professional degree programme in the field of Engineering, Medicine, Dental, Veterinary, BBA, BCA, B. Pharma, B.SC (Nursing, Agriculture, etc.), MBA and MCA etc. 

  • Having minimum 60% marks in Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ) i.e. 10+2/Diploma/Graduation or equivalent in case of new applicant.

    Or

  • For applicants applying under renewal category, it is mandatory to pass the each subsequent academic year of the professional courses being pursued by them with minimum 50% marks.

  • Wards of state police personnel killed in terrorist and Maoist violence.

  • A grace period of one year only for cases, where there is a delay on part of candidate for submission of application for renewal of scholarship may be entertained

Order of preference

  • Category-A Wards/Widows of CAPFs & AR personnel killed in action.

  • Category-B Wards of Ex-CAPFs & AR personnel disabled in action.

  • Category-C Wards/Widows of deceased CAPFs & AR personnel died for causes attributable to Government service including casualties during conduct of Election.

  • Category-D Wards of Ex-CAPFs & AR personnel disabled while in service with disability attributable to Government Service.

  • Category-E Wards of Ex-CAPFs & AR personnel in receipt of Gallantry Awards.

  • Category-F Wards of Ex- CAPFs & AR personnel (PBOR). VII)

  • Category-G Wards of serving CAPFs & AR personnel (PBOR) subject to availability of scholarship.

Note:

  • Wards of deceased CAPF/AR personnel will be considered for scholarship under Categories “A” to “F” as per their priority, even on compassionate appointment of spouse/NOKs in CAPFs.

  • There will be no rank restriction for the Categories A to E.

  • The Wards of Assistant Commandant, holding Local Rank of CAPFs & AR (who are not entailing the pay benefits of Assistant Commandant and drawing the Salary of Inspectors) are eligible for granting PMS under category “F” & “G” also.

  • This scholarship is admissible for only two children per family and should be ensured by the beneficiaries as well as by the respective CAPF & AR.

  • The applicants irrespective of his /her marital status is eligible for PMSS. 

Documents Required

Following documents in the respective category are mandatorily required to be submitted/uploaded by the applicant for applying under PMSS:- 

For Fresh Applicant

  • Service Certificate to be issued by the H.O.O in case of serving personnel.

  • College/Institute Certificate: Bonafide Certificate duly filled up correctly and signed by Vice Chancellor / Principal/ Vice Principal/Dean/Associate Dean/Registrar/Dy Registrar/Director/Dy Director of the Institute/College as per Principal/Dean/Registrar of the Institute / College 

  • Bank Certificate: Certificate from his/her bank stating that Aadhaar Card of student linked with his / her bank account number.

  • Matriculation Certificate for verifying the Date of Birth

  • Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ) certificate as applicable.(10+2 Mark sheet / Graduation (mark sheets of 3 years) / Diploma (mark sheets of all semesters) .

  • 1st page of Bank Pass Book (PNB/SBI only) clearly showing name and A/c Number of Student. 

  • Aadhaar Card of Student. 

  • PPO and the following supporting documents in case of Category 1 to 5

    • For Category 1 to 4: Part II Order in case of Army, Genform in case of Navy and POR in case of Air Force 

    • For Category 5: Award Certificate along with Gazette Notification

    • For Category 6: PPO or ESM Identity Card

For Renewal

  • Renewal Certificate: Bonafide Certificate duly signed by Vice Chancellor / Principal / Vice Principal / Dean / Associate Dean / Registrar / Deputy Registrar / Director / Deputy Director.

  • Student Certificate: Instructions and Certificate / Undertaking from Student / ESM

  • Bank Certificate: Aadhaar Linking Certificate duly completed and signed by Bank Manager) (SBI / PNB only).

  • Original mark sheets (both semesters / academic year) issued by university. Computer generated mark sheets not to be uploaded.

  • University Certificate(Not applicable to all Students):Certificate signed by University to be uploaded by those students whose mark sheets are issued by the University on completion of entire course. 

  • First page of Bank Pass Book or cancelled cheque leaf of student (if Name and Account Number is printed).

  • Aadhaar Card of Student showing name and address.

Exclusions

Categories of applicants NOT eligible under PMSS are:

  • Applicants, those not belong to A to G category as mentioned under the Column 4 (Order of preference). PMSS is meant for wards/widows of uniformed/combat CAPFs & AR personnel.

  • Wards of civilian employees of CAPFs & AR.

  • Applicants pursuing professional courses through correspondence /distance learning.

  • Applicants availing benefit of other scholarship scheme/getting stipend and financial assistance.

  • Applicants already availed scholarship under PMSS.

  • Applicants pursuing courses, such as Diploma courses, not leading to award of a degree or pursuing master degree programme except MBA, MCA subject to first professional course.

  • Applicants admitted on their own to the college/institute/university NOT APPROVED under UGC Act or not recognized by AICTE and not having NBA accredited courses (for Engineering Degree courses) or Not approved by Medical Council of India (for Medical Degree courses).

  • Applicants studying Abroad

  • Change of course/college by the Selected Student and get fresh admission in subsequent academic year will lead to rejection of his/her Scholarship for ever

  • The PMSS is restricted to first Professional Degree Courses only. It is applicable for B.Ed but not for BA+B.Ed. In case of integrated ME/M.Tech/M.Pharma, the scholarship will be given for initial three/four years as the case may be.

  • Fill the details required in Part 1 and 2.

  • Click on Submit.

  • Fill Part 3 and upload the required documents

  • Click on Save and Forward.

Renew Online

Follow the below steps to renew online for Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme. (Checklist for Renewal)

  • Login with your User name and password.

  • You are taken to your Dashboard.

  • Select New Application from option given on dashboard. A drop down box will display. Select Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme – ‘Renewal’ from drop down option.

  • Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme - Payment Cum Renewal Blank Form will be displayed. A Selection Serial Number blank box will appear on top.

  • Enter your Selection Serial Number and click on "Get Details" button to get your details.

  • On clicking “Get Details" button, details of student related will automatically be filled up in maximum column of application by system from initial application of student.

  • Student should fill up required information in Renewal Application correctly and upload requisite documents.

  • Click on Save and Forward.

Applicable Courses

Only First professional degree courses like BE, B Tech, BDS, MBBS, B.Ed., BBA, BCA, B Pharma, B.Sc (Nursing, Agriculture, etc.) duly recognized by the respective Government Regulatory Bodies, such as All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Medical Council of India (MCI), University Grant Commission (UGC).
