Voter ID card is an identity document issued by the Election Commission of India to citizens of India who have reached the age of 18, which primarily serves as an identity proof for Indian citizens while casting their ballot in the country's municipal, state, and national elections.

Apply Online
Follow the below steps to apply Voter ID card online.

Click on Form - 6 (Apply online for registration of new voter/due to shifting from AC)

Fill details about State, District and Assembly/Parliamentary Constituency. As you are a first time voter, click on button near to it.

Enter details about name, name of relative of applicant, type of relation, your age or date of birth and gender.
- The name as it should appear in the electoral roll and Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) should be furnished. The full name should be written in the first box and surname should be written in the second box. In case you do not have a surname, just write the given name. Caste should not be mentioned except where the caste name is used as part of the elector’s name or a surname. Honorific appellations like Shri, Smt. Kumari, Khan, Begum, Pandit etc. should not be mentioned. Please mention your name in English and official language of the State both, if possible.

Enter current address where applicant is ordinarily resident.

Enter permanent address of applicant.

Enter optional particulars, if any

Upload your photograph

Upload documents for proof of age and proof of address

Once you have entered all the details, click on "Submit" button.

Now you will receive an email with a link that lets you track your voter ID application status. It may take around 30 days for your application to be processed and for a voter ID to be issued.
Track status
Follow the below steps to track the status of Voter ID card online.

Enter the reference Id

Color Voter ID card
The Election Commission of India is now issuing color Voter ID card. Following people are eligible to receive color voter ID card.

Those who have applied for changes or corrections to be made to their details in Voter ID card

Those newly registering for Voter ID cards
Those who already have a Voter ID and wish to apply for a new plastic, crisp, colour voter ID card can also obtain it after paying an extra fee of Rs. 30. Follow the below procedure to do it.

Visit the official Chief Electoral Officer website of your State

Click on the link for registration to get a new color PVC Voter ID

Enter the required details and submit them

Verify these details using the verification code that will be sent to your mobile number

Your Voter ID will finally be mailed to your house via post in 45-60 days

You can search for your name in voter ID card by name by following the below steps.

You can search either by providing basic details in "Search By Details" or by providing EPIC number in "Search by EPIC No."

Download Voter ID card
Voter ID can be applied online. But it cannot be downloaded online as it has an hologram in it. So you will receive Voter ID card by post, once the Booth Level verifies your details.
However, you can see the basic details in Voter ID card if you provide the required information. Follow the below steps to download voter ID card information online.

Duplicate Voter ID card
You might need a duplicate Voter ID card, if your Voter ID card got damaged or lost. Follow the below steps in case you have lost your Voter ID card.

As soon as you lose your voter id, you must file an FIR at your at the police station of your area

Keep a hard copy of the FIR with you.

Get the Form 002 from regional election commission office or download it from their official website. This form is particularly for those who are applying for duplicate voter id card.

Fill in all the required details and Attach a photocopy of FIR with the form.

Attach all the required documents for date of birth, photo identity and address proof such as Pan Card, Passport, Driving License, etc.

Put all the documents in an envelope and submit it to the nearest chief election commission office in your city or district.
