Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, free LPG gas connections are provided to the women belonging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) household.

Under  Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana scheme, LPG connections will be provided to BPL families with a support of Rs. 1600 per connection. The scheme provides cash assistance to cover the cost of Security Deposit of Cylinder, Pressure regulator, cost of issuance of Domestic Gas Customer Card (DGCC). 

Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Scheme [Edit] [Edit]

Following are the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana scheme.

• This scheme provides LPG connections to poor households

• The scheme provides financial support of INR 1600 for each LPG connection. The financial support Rs.1600 per connection includes cylinder, pressure regulator, booklet, safety hose etc.

• Provide interest-free loan to purchase stove and refill by oil marketing companies.

Eligibility Criteria of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Scheme [Edit] [Edit]

Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, free LPG gas connections are provided to the women belonging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) household.

The eligibility criteria for PMUY are the following.

• The applicant should be a citizen of India

• The applicant should be a women of below poverty line family

• The applicant should have completed 18 years of age

• No one in applicant’s household should own an LPG connection. 

• The household income of the family must not exceed a certain limit prescribed by the state government and union territory.

• Applicant must not be a recipient of similar scheme provided by the government.

• The name of the applicant must be in the list of SECC ( Socio Economic Caste Census) -2011 data. In order to check whether your name is there in the list, follow the below process to check it.

  • Visit SECC website

    

  • Select your State

  • Select Your Tehsil/taluka,

  • Select your Gram Panchayat

  • Select the type of list you want to see

  • Click on Submit button.

  • You will see the list of people who are part of SECC  list.

Documents Required for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Scheme [Edit] [Edit]

 The following documents are needed to apply Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

• An authorized BPL certificate by the municipal chairman or panchayat president

• BPL ration card

• Identity proof with photo

• A passport size photograph

Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Scheme [Edit] [Edit]

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana scheme mainly focuses on BPL household. But it also includes the following categories,

• All SC/STs households beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana(PMAY) (Gramin)

• Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY)

• Forest dwellers

• Most Backward Classes (MBC)

• Tea & Ex-Tea Garden Tribes

• People residing in Islands

• People residing in river islands

Apply for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana [Edit] [Edit]

Following are the process for applying Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

• A woman of the BPL household, who doesn’t have LPG connection may apply for a new LPG connection (in the prescribed format) to the LPG distributor.

• While submitting the application form, the woman should submit details, like Address, Jandhan/ Bank Account and Aadhar number

• The LPG Field officials will match the application against SECC - 2011 database. Name of the applicant should be there in the SECC 2011 list.

• After ascertaining their BPL status, enter the details (name, address etc ) into a dedicated OMC Web portal through a login/ password given by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs)

• The connection shall be issued by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to the eligible beneficiaries (after completion of various stages above).

• While the connection charges would be borne by the Government, the OMCs would provide an option for the new consumer to opt for EMIs, if she so desires, to cover the cost of a cooking stove and first refill.

• The EMI amount may be recovered by the OMCs from the subsidy amount due to the consumer on each refill
