The government of Jharkhand has announced Free Smartphone Scheme on Nov 4, 2018. As per the scheme, free smartphones will be provided to around 28 lakh farmers in Jharkhand

With this mobile phone, the farmers will be able to connect to the e-NAM marketplace which is an online trading platform for agriculture commodities in India. the e-NAM market facilitates farmers, traders and buyers with online trading in commodities. This market is also helpful in better price discovery and provides facilities for smooth marketing of their produce.

The move will help the farmers know about the market rates and other information relating to agriculture.
