Biju Yuva Vahini

Biju Yuva Vahini was launched by Government of Odisha, as a new sub-scheme to Biju Yuva Sashaktikaran, on 14th March 2018. It aims to target the youth of Odisha to promote leadership, volunteerism and a healthy lifestyle through sports and social action interventions.

Biju Yuva Vahini scheme intends to promote the holistic development of the youth while creating a foundation to address social issues and help the youth bring about sustainable change within their communities.

Goals

• Channelize the immense energy of the youth of Odisha towards Nation-Building Activities .

• Inspire the Spirit of Volunteerism.

• Promote active participation in various Social Action Projects and Community Engagement Activities.

• Encourage traits of Comradeship; Personality Development, Leadership Qualities, National Character and Good Citizenship.

• Engage the youth between the ages of 15 -35 in the state.

• Make the youth the focal point for dissemination of knowledge within the community.

• Target youth interventions through Sports, Social, Art & Culture programmes across the state.

• Promote a healthy lifestyle and scientific temper amongst them .

Features

• 8000 Biju Yuva Vahinis will form across all 6799 Panchayats and 114 Urban Local Bodies .

• Build youth networks through an online youth voices platform.

• Interactions, feedback, sharing of experiences and documentation of best practices .

Eligibility Criteria

• Age: Between 15- 35 years

• Candidate must be literate. Candidates with higher qualification are encouraged to apply and will be given priority

• Office Bearers of the BYV shall be of minimum Matriculate standard (Class 10 Pass) with flexibility in Tribal Sub Plan areas. (Noo minimum qualification for TSP areas)

• Preferably 1/3rd of members to be girls/young women

• Preference to youth from NSS/NCC/NYKS/BNVs/Eco Clubs etc. background

• Preference to youth having experience in social work and other development interventions

• Preference to differently abled youth
