If the original former owners are dead, can a member of the family, a half brother, ie a son born to a woman through her second marriage, misappropriate the tharavad solely on the point of having blood relationship?

Only transfer by all the heirs is valid. The half brother mentioned in the question is also the legal heir of the deceased. He cannot transfer the land alone. If it has done so then it is not legal.
