Dalitha Bandhu Scheme aims to promote dalit enterprenureship by providing every possible assistance to the dalit families enabling a lucid environment for their growth and prosperity.
Benefits of Dalitha Bandhu Scheme
Dalitha Bandhu Scheme envisages granting a one-time financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to each Dalit family. This initial capital is to help them start an enterprise or buy an asset which gives them recurring earnings.
As part of the scheme, over 95 different types of business activities were selected and depending on the abilities of the beneficiaries, the sum is to be sanctioned.
The financial assistance is given into a separate Dalit Bandhu account of the beneficiary. Moreover, its unique in the sense that there is no bank linkage and loan component associated with the scheme.
Therefore there is no role of middlemen nor any responsibility of repayment on the beneficiary. Dalit Rakshana Nidhi (Protection fund) is a special feature where a dedicated fund is maintained to support a dalit bandhu entrepreneur in case of unforeseen accident or circumstances.
