If you are using online Self Service Update Portal (https://ssup.uidai.g..) for updation, your mobile number should be registered with Aadhaar otherwise you can visit nearest Enrolment Center with Supporting documents or send updation request through post alongwith Application form & Supporting Documents. It is not necessary to register mobile number with Aadhar for any kind of updation. You can visit aadhar service centre for the update. They will check your biometrics or supporting documents to make the update.
If you are updating aadhar details online, then you need to have registered mobile number. However, you can update only address online. For updating your name, gender, Date of Birth, Email ID, Mobile number, fingerprints, photograph, iris scan in Aadhar, you need to visit nearest aadhar service centre. Address can also be updated at aadhar service centre.
