Dr Muthulakshmi Maternity Benefit scheme aims to provide financial assistance to the poor pregnant women below the poverty line in Tamil Nadu for the first two deliveries. Dr Muthulakshmi Maternity Benefit Scheme aims to provide financial assistance of  Rs. 18000 to poor pregnant mothers.

Benefits of Dr Muthulakshmi Maternity Benefit Scheme

Benefits of the scheme will be provided in 5 cash instalments and two Nutrition kits, as shown below. Conditions to be satisfied to avail benefits under the scheme is also provided below.

Amma Maternity Nutrition Kit

Dr Muthulakshmi Maternity Benefit scheme also provides Amma Maternity Nutrition Kit aimed at providing iron tonic and nutritional supplements to pregnant women in Tamil Nadu. Amma Maternity Nutrition Kits would be distributed twice once in the 12th week and for the second time between the 16th and 20th week of pregnancy.

Kits worth Rs. 2,000 would be given to pregnant women.  Amma Maternity Nutrition Kit worth Rs. 2,000 contains the following items.

Eligibility Criteria of Dr Muthulakshmi Maternity Benefit Scheme

• Applicant should be a citizen of India and permanent resident of Tamil Nadu

• Applicant should have completed 19 yrs of age

• Applicants should belong to the BPL family.

• Available only for first 2 deliveries

• Identity Proof - Any Voter ID, Aadhar Card, Passport, Class X/XII mark list, Driving Licence etc

• Bank Account

• BPL Ration card

Procedure of Dr Muthulakshmi Maternity Benefit Scheme

The Pregnant mother should register her pregnancy before 12 weeks with the VHN / UHN or she should have pre-registered her pregnancy before 12 weeks.
