Gruha Jyoti Scheme

“Gruha Jyothi” is the flagship program of Government of Karnataka, which provides free electricity up to 200 units per month for every residential household of Karnataka. 

Benefits under Gruha Jyoti Scheme

Following are the benefits under Gruha Jyoti Scheme.

• 40 units of free electricity is already being provided under Bhagya Jyoti and Kuteer Jyoti Yojana and these consumers will be provided free electricity up to the state average of 53 units per month + additional 10% under Griha Jyoti Yojana.

• Under Amritajyoti Yojana, 75 units of electricity are already provided free of charge to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe families through transfer to account under DBT, and additional 10% free upto 75 units per month under Grihajyoti Yojana to these customers/beneficiaries. 

Eligibility Criteria for Gruha Jyoti Scheme

Following are the eligibility criteria for Gruha Jyoti Scheme.

• All residential consumers within the State of Karnataka are eligible for this scheme

• This scheme is applicable only for home use electricity connections: Not applicable for electricity usage for commercial purposes.

• If the bill is less than the eligible unit/amount, then such customers will be given zero bill.

• It is mandatory for every user to link his Customer ID / Account ID with Aadhaar.

• It will be mandatory for home electricity consumers to install a meter and read the meter

• If there is more than one installation in the name of a household electricity user, only one installation will be eligible for the facility of this scheme.

• While reading the meter every month, enter the bill for the amount of total electricity consumption. Deduct the eligible amount from the home electricity user's bill. The remaining amount will be given to the customers via net bill and the customers will pay the net bill.

Documents Required for Gruha Jyoti Scheme

Following documents are required for Gruha Jyoti Scheme.

• Aadhar Card

• Details of consumer ID/Account ID which are available on any month’s electricity bill, 

• Tenancy document if you are a tenant (Rental/lease agreement) 

• Voter ID showing address of the premise.

How to Apply Online for Gruha Jyoti Scheme?

Follow the below steps to apply online for Gruha Jyoti Scheme.

• Visit the Seva Sindhu Portal.

• Click on ‘Gruha Jyoti’.

• An application form will open on your screen.

• Fill all the required details in the application form.

• Select the type of occupancy.

• Owner

• Tenant

• Family Member

• Tick the checkbox.

• Enter the word verification.

• Click on submit.

How to Apply Offline for Gruha Jyoti Scheme?

Citizens can apply through assisted mode also made available at Grama One, Karnataka One, Bangalore One centers

How are the Units Calculated?

The benefit is calculated based on average consumption for Financial Year 2022-23 + 10% increase (total amounting to less than 200 units)
