How to get BMTC Student Pass (2020-21) ?

BMTC student pass smart card is a personalized card with photograph and name of the student on the card. Each card has a unique number printed on the card as well as another unique number encrypted into its electronic chip. The chip also has information related to the student, the source and destination between which he can travel from his/ her residence to the academic Institution. It also contains the period of validity of the card.

Apply Online for Issuance of BMTC Student Pass

Students who do not have a smart card pass issued last year or who have lost their old cards can go through new card application process.

  • Visit BMTC Bus website.

  • Click on "Student Pass" tab.

  • Choosing any of the option under "Apply For New Student Pass".

  • Enter SAT/PU enrolment number or admission numbers for non state board students and others. (admission number is the unique number given by the institution at the time of student’s admission)

  • Enter details of caste/school/ standard/ college year etc.

  • Go through the OTP verification process (the OTP will be sent to the mobile number entered in the student pass application)

  • Wait for approval from institution/BMTC (an SMS will be sent notifying the approval)

  • On receiving the SMS of approval, book an online appointment for visiting the nearest pass issuance counter. For online scheduling and rescheduling of appointment, click on "Schedule / Reschedule Appointment" in the "Student Pass" page.

  • Appear in person and get yourself photographed in the selected pass counter.

  • Collect your card from the issuance counter. 

Apply Online for Renewal of BMTC Student Pass

  • Visit BMTC Bus website

  • Click on "Student Pass" tab.

  • Choose option under "Apply For Renewal Student Pass".

  • Enter details of BMTC smart card pass number (previous year smart card number)

  • Enter/Edit details of caste/school/ standard/ college year etc.

  • Go through the OTP verification process (the OTP will be sent to the mobile number entered in the student pass application)

  • Wait for approval from institution/BMTC (an SMS will be sent notifying the approval)

  • On receiving the SMS of approval, book an online appointment for visiting the nearest pass issuance counter. For online scheduling and rescheduling of appointment, click on "Schedule / Reschedule Appointment" in the "Student Pass" page.

  • Bring the card to the chosen issuance counter for rewriting the new validity date, to and fro stop details on it for use of the same card for current academic year.

  • Come to the bottom of page, where you can see option to track the status of your request.

Instruction for Students

Application process has been modified based on category of students depending on their Board i.e., SATS/CBSE/ICSE or depending on the course the student is pursuing for higher studies.

Students studying in 1st to 10th std & PUC in State board schools/ colleges (SATS & PU Board)-

For students in State Board, it will be mandatory to enter their SATS / PU enrolment number and date of birth before they can proceed. Only for students between 1st to 10th standard, approvals will be done by BMTC Officers and Schools will not be burdened by the job of approval. For PU students applications will be approved by their colleges

Documents to be uploaded:

  • Students from 1st to 10th standards will also have to upload attested copy of the document in the prescribed format.

  • PU students will have to upload

    • Passport size photo in jpg format (upto 1mb)

    • Copy of fee paid receipt

Students studying in 1st to 12th std in CBSE/ ICSE schools and studying in Degree/ Professional/ Technical/ Medical/ Evening/ Phd courses/ special schools recognized by Social welfare Department, GOK –

Students have to enter their admission number as it appears in the fee paid document they will upload and have to follow the process as prescribed.

Q: What is SATS number in the application (Up to 10thSTD and PUC Students pass application)?
A: SATS number is a “Student Achievement Track System” number which is unique for all the students up to 10th standard (for the students of state syllabus schools). 1st PUC students can also use their SATS (10th std) number.

Q: What is PU enrollment number in the pass application (PUC Students)?
A: Student Enrollment number is provided by the PU board and the number is unique for all the PUC students.

Q: How to apply for student pass for PUC students who does’t have SATS/ PU enrollment number?
A: Students enrolled to PUC from CBSE/ ICSE stream may not have SATS/ PU enrollment number. They can apply for the student pass using their admission number.

Q: What is admission number in the pass application (PUC / CBSE / ICSE / Degree / Technical / Medical / Professional / Others / Evening/Ph.D)?
A: Student Admission number is the number provided to the students by their institutions at the time of admission. (Ex- 12345/2016-17). PUC students:Students from CBSE/ ICSE stream may not have their SATS or PU Enrollment number, they can use their admission number to apply for student pass.

Q: What is renewal card number in “Apply student pass renewal”?
A: The number which is present on the smart card student pass issued last year which is printed on the card and the number start with “BMTCST_____”.

Q: Institution name is not showing in the dropdown?
A: Ask your college administration to contact BMTC and register the college name.

Q: Which mobile number/Email-ID to be mentioned in the application?
A: This mobile number/Email ID will receive the OTP which has to be entered in the application.Any communication in respect to the student pass shall be sent to the mobile number/Email ID which is entered in the application.

Q: Entering mobile number and Email-ID in the application is mandatory?
A: Entering Mobile number is mandatory and the Email-ID is optional.

Q: In case of SC/ST students, what is RD number?
A: The number which is there in the caste certificate and said number start with the letters“RD” and continues with numeric numbers.

Q: What needs to enter in the fields like “from stop” and “to stop”?
A: These two fields are mandatory where “From Stop” should be the “origin” and “To Stop” should be the “Destination”.

Q: What needs to enter in the fields like “Via 1” and “Via 2”?
A: These are optional fields, where via places should be in between Origin and Destination. These places can be used as your travel change over junction.

Q: What to upload in Applicant Photo and School/College Fee Receipt (other than up to 10th standard students)?
A: Upload the student’s passport size photoin JPEG/ JPG/ PNG file and should be less than 01 MB in size.

Q: Where do I get the OTP to enter in the application?
A: After filling the required fields in the application, you have to click on “Send OTP” at the end of the application (see that, all the required fields are filed before clicking on send OTP), OTP will be sent to the mobile number and the email ID mentioned in the application.

Q: After applying for the student pass, what is the next process (Other that up to 10thStd state syllabus students)?
A: Check the status of your application. If the application is yet to be approved, then contact the nodal officer of your college for the approval of the student pass application.

Q: How to check the status of the student pass?
A: At the end of the web page, there is a vertical called “Know your application status”, enter your application number and click on “search”.

Q: What is schedule/Reschedule appointment in the webpage?
A: Students must schedule an appointment on feasible day & time to get the pass from BMTC counters. After scheduling their appointment, if the student couldn’t come down to the BMTC counters, he can reschedule his appointment for 02 more times.

Q: What is application number in “Apply for student pass renewal”?
A: Application number is the number provided in the acknowledgement after applying for the student bus pass.
