If you have any problem while registering on Income Tax Portal or anywhere, the solution is:

Open the income tax portal > click on pay tax > fill in the details and enter your pan number

after clicking next, you will see your full name in XXXX blocked characters, where few of the characters will be visible. You can clearly guess the first, middle and last name from it.

Fifth character of PAN represents the first character of the PAN holder's last name/surname in case of an individual. In case of non-individual PAN holders fifth character represents the first character of PAN holder's name.
