2.) The highest competent authority to issue the minority certificate is said to be Tahasildar while in some places it is said to be District Collector.

3.)The maximum validity period of the minority status certificate of educational institutions are about three years. As for the minority certificate of individuals, the details are extremely vague and opaque at best.

4.) The complete list of purposes for which the minority certificate in Kerala is issued for is also not known and is not easily available.

5.) In places other than Kerala, as per reports the minority certificate is issued for purposes such as :- Reservation of seats in the Legislatures, Reservation in Government Service, Relaxation of upper age limit for applying to certain Government jobs, Waiving off a part or the whole of the admission fees admission to schools and colleges, Quotas in educational institutions, Scholarships, Government Subsidies, Government Schemes, business loans, etc. and the list goes on and on......

For more information, you may view the directorate of minority welfare's website minoritywelfare.kerala.gov.in or contact at 0471-2302090, 0471-2300523, 0471-2300524 or at director.mwd@gmail.com , iro.mwd@gmail.com etc.

Another related website is kscminorities.org of Kerala state commission for minorities as the successive governments and officials of Kerala have shown least interest in providing the minority certificate to the minority religious members for the purposes mentioned in 5th point, it is prudent also not to expect any response from the current and future administrations also.
