The Government of Tamil Nadu accords the highest priority to providing quality education to the citizens of tomorrow. Education is the gateway to a better future for today’s children and it is the formative years of school education that lay the foundation for their future wellbeing. It is the primary objective of the state to provide quality, accessible and inclusive education to all its children. 

Objectives of TN EMIS

The focus of the Government in School Education will be-

  • to ensure that enrolment of all school age children is achieved in total
  • to ensure complete retention of all enrolled children right upto the secondary level
  • to bring drop-outs to zero 
  • to improve the learning outcomes among children as appropriate to their age and level to empower teachers by effective and useful training
  • to leverage the power of technology in the teaching-learning process
  • to provide foundational literacy and numeracy skills to all students
  • to improve basic amenities in schools
  • to equip children with new-age skills and to ensure their safety and wellbeing, especially given the new-normal set by COVID. 

Special Initiatives of TN EMIS

  • Naan Mudhalvan

Naan Mudhalvan portal aims to provide dynamic information on Higher Education courses and consequent careers that Class 9-12 students can evaluate and choose to pursue. It includes live up-to-date information on entrance examinations for colleges across the country along with Scholarships or Education loans that students can avail. 

  • Ennum Ezhuthum

The Ennum Ezhuthum Mission has been envisioned to improve the quality of teaching and learning in primary classes in Tamil Nadu. The goal of the Ennum Ezhuthum mission is to ensure that all students of classes 1,2, and 3 in government schools in Tamil Nadu can read with comprehension and possess basic arithmetic skills by 2025. The mission also aims to tackle the learning gap caused due to school closures during the COVID-19 lockdown.

  • Illam Thedi Kalvi

Homeschooling is a voluntary service. During the general shutdown due to the spread of the Corona epidemic, the Home Search Education Program is going to be implemented to correct the learning gaps and losses of students studying in government schools from class one to eight. A form has been provided through this portal for the registration of volunteers who wish to provide teaching services at the 'Illam Chidak Education' centers in the evenings after school.
