How to apply to test food samples in Dubai?

This service enables you to test the quality and safety of food products, to ensure that they are free of pathogenic bacteria and harmful chemicals and that they comply with approved local and international specifications.

How to apply to test food samples in Dubai?

  • Apply for the service through the available channels by filling in the online application form (FITR).

  • Deliver the test samples to Dubai Municipality, Dubai Central Laboratory (DCL) Department, Microbiological Analysis Laboratories Section, Customers Happiness Centre, Al Karama, Zabeel Road.

  • Pay the due fees.

  • Receive test results report by Dubai Municipality website and e-mail.

Time Required

  • 5 working days for testing of food products.

  • 14 working days to test food contact items.

  • You should register at the Public Health and Safety Department (montaji) to test food supplements samples.

  • The service completion time (5 working days ) is calculated after the payment date or according to the type of examination and the duration it requires.

  • The time required to issue the test results report varies according to the test type, and according to the Business Process Model No. DM-DCLD-SP-FE-0001.

  • The service application is automatically cancelled 10 days after the application submission if the due fees were not paid, knowing that the laboratory is not bound to return the sample.

  • The highest time duration mentioned on the application form will be  considered as the duration to obtain test results.

  • The sample must be physically valid when brought to the laboratory and should comply with the requirements of the food label specification.

  • The quantity of the sample(s) shall meet the requirements as per (DM-DCLD-SP- FE-0005).

  • Payments can be made at any service center or online cash payment is not accepted.

  •  Service duration is as per DM-DCLD-SP-FE-0001. It is in term of working days for parameter

  • If the customer finds any mistakes in the test report then he/she should notify the lab within 15 working days.

  • Any changes or alteration to the test report by the customer will be considered as not acceptable report

  • In case the laboratory is unable to meet the given time due to instrument breakdown or unavoidable reasons, the customer have two options either to wait until the problem is resolved or request for a refund.

  • In case of unresolved dispute, it should be directed to Legal Affairs  Department of  DM.

  • If you want to retrieve the sample, you should inform the staff when submit the physical sample in Happiness center.

  • Samples may be returned if they conform with the following regulations or standards:.

    • Samples weighing 10 kg or more

    •  Expensive samples.

    • Food contact samples cannot be returned as they may contain traces of testing chemicals such as acetic acid and ethanol in different percentages.

    •   Samples are kept for 5 working days after the report is issued, and the laboratory is not responsible for returning them after that period.
