Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana

Government of Punjab has launched Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana (SSBY), on 1 July 2019, to provide annual health coverage of Rs. 5 lakh per family per annum.

Benefits

  • The government would provide  Universal Health Insurance Coverage of Rs. 5 lakh to all SSBY beneficiaries.

  • The beneficiaries would get cashless treatment at all government hospitals along with 364 private hospitals.

  • There is no limit on family size as all the family members would be eligible.

  • A total number of 43.18 lakh families in Punjab to be covered under SSBY Scheme in Punjab. These include:-

    • 14.86 lakh families already covered under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) in Punjab.

    • 20.48 lakh other poor families possessing blue cards.

    • 7.84 lakh families from various departments including 5 lakh farmers registered under Punjab Mandi Board.

    • 2.38 lakh construction workers registered with the construction worker’s welfare board.

    • 46,000 families under Excise and Taxation Department

  • The free treatment insurance scheme will remain valid for one year. After the completion of one year, applicants can re-apply for getting the same benefits by enrolling once again.

  • But the free treatment scheme is only for those patients who are suffering from secondary or tertiary ailments. If any beneficiary has the primary disease, then he/she will not attain free treatment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • This scheme is for permanent and legal resident of Punjab

  • People of all religions will be able to enroll for the scheme.

  • All Blue pass holders will be directly included in the free treatment scheme.( Many families in the state, which have been categorized as financially very weak are given Blue Pass)

Documents Required

  • Residential Proof

  • Identity proof

  • Applicants who are applying under special category need to submit BPL or LIG certificates

  • Those who are applying under Blue Pass need to present the Blue Pass to the authorities.

  • Agricultural workers need to submit the registration certificates issued by the Punjab Mandi Board.

Arogya Mitras

Every empanelled hospital under Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana has an Arogya Mitra to help the patient when they arrive at the hospital.Arogya Mitras will assist in admission, beneficiary verification, authentication, query management, grievance redressal.
