How to apply for amending a vehicle ownership data in Dubai?

This service enables you to amend the information of the vehicle ownership certificate issued in Dubai.

Eligibility Criteria

Individual customers, citizens and residents, and companies are eligible to apply for this service.

Documents Required

Adding an advertisement sticker (for companies)

  1. Official letter in Arabic from the company

Amending the type of the vehicle: truck/Van (cooler) (for companies)

  1. Approval of Dubai Municipality or municipal test certificate from one of RTA's service centres

  2. Official letter in Arabic from the company clarifying the nature of change

  3. Vehicle technical inspection certificate.

Changing the vehicle's color (for individuals and companies)

  1. e-NOC from the Criminal Investigation Department at Dubai Police

  2. For individuals: Original Emirates ID to update the information if it's expired and to verify the customer identity

  3. For companies: Official letter in Arabic from the company clarifying the nature of change + copy of the trade licence

How to apply for amending a vehicle ownership data in Dubai?

Through Website or Smart Application

  • The customer logs in using his username and the password.

  • The customer selects Licensing Services.

  • The customer selects My vehicles (more).

  • The customer enters the required information.

  • The customer settles the required fees by credit card.

  • The customer with an Apple device can receive the electronic ownership from the Apple Wallet though the RTA Dubai App.

Through Customer Happiness Centres or Vehicle Registration and Inspection Centres

  • The customer heads to the front desk employee.

  • The employee sends a link to the customer.

  • The customer uploads the required documents through the link.

  • The customer receives the transaction code.

  • The customer submits the transaction code to the front desk employee to complete the service process, check and electronically sign the application.

  • The customer settles the required fees.

  • The customer receives the ownership certificate.

  • 50 AED new ownership certificate

  • 100 AED vehicle's ownership amendment fee

  • 500 AED advertisement sticker fee

  • 500 AED to add another advertisement sticker

  • 10 AED expiry sticker fee

  • +20 AED Knowledge and Innovation fees.

  • Online channels: instantly

  • Customer Happiness Centres and Vehicle Registration and Inspection Centres: 5 minutes.

Validity

Same validity period as the original ownership certificate.

Terms and Conditions

  • The customer must pay all the traffic fines before receiving this service.

  • The customer must verify the validity of the vehicle's ownership.

  • In case of amending the mortgage information, the customer must electronically add the mortgage or redeem it at the bank.

  • To change the insurance company, the customer must electronically enter the new insurance and cancel the old one that's already in the system.

  • The customer cannot paint the vehicle using the colours designated for armed forces and government departments and cannot use sticky window sun shades.

  • The customer can apply for this service through online channels only when amending the insurance or mortgage information or the vehicle's specifications.

  • To change the vehicle's colour or add an advertisement sticker the customer must submit a vehicle inspection certificate.

The ownership e-card is an electronic document called Vehicle Licence sent to the customer via email and SMS. It includes all the ownership details including the expiry date, mortgage and insurance. This e-card is issued through the service of Authenticating the Validity of an RTA Document on the RTA website and Dubai Drive application and the customer has to print it or save it on his phone to show it to concerned authorities when needed.
How can the customer print the ownership e-card or any other document in case he didn’t receive an email or he wanted to verify the vehicle details, renewal date and insurance details?
The ownership e-card may be printed through the Document Validation service, by selecting service type Vehicle Licence then entering the vehicle details to show the print order.
What details are featured on the vehicle licence?
The vehicle licence features all the details related to the vehicle including the expiry date, the mortgage and the insurance details. It is sent via email to the customer in a printable format.
How can the customer show the ownership e-card to the police patrols or officers, or the Licensing Department?
The customer shows the ownership e-card featured in RTA applications and saved on his phone, or the printed copy of the e-card.
How can the customer access the insurance details?
The insurance details are featured on the ownership e-card accessible through RTA smart application, or on the printed copy of the vehicle licence.
How can the customer access the mortgage details?
Mortgage details are featured on all the documents.
In case the customer doesn’t have RTA application, can the vehicle licence be printed through the customer service centre?
There is no need for the customer service representative to print the vehicle licence. The customer may print it through the link sent via email.
