Can I buy liquor online in Kerala during Corona lockdown?

To avoid crowds at outlets during the corona crisis, the Kerala government and the Excise Department explored ways to introduce online liquor sales and service delivery. However, the online delivery of liquor couldn't be introduced without amending the Kerala Abkari Act.

Even if the Government issue an ordinance for online delivery of liquor, the beverages corporation doesn't have enough manpower to provide home delivery of alcohol. Then, the government has to depend on private service providers for the same. Again, the government has to make sure that the product shipped to the consumer is exactly what the consumer has got. There might be cases of theft or usage of counterfeit liquor by the private delivery partners. This leads to another crisis.

So, it is highly unlikely that the government will amend the Abkari act and partner with private delivery guys in the middle of the corona crisis to deliver the alcohol.

In short, the liquor would not be available offline or online during the lockdown period.
