The government of Karnataka has launched Sandhya Suraksha Yojana to provide financial assistance in the form of monthly pensions to the senior citizens of Karnataka.

Benefits of Sandhya Suraksha Yojana in Karnataka

  • The beneficiaries under this scheme will receive a fixed monthly pension of Rs. 1000 from the State government.

  • Beneficiaries those uses KSRTC for travelling will get bus passes at concessional rates.

  • Apart from the regular pension, the Government will also lend its supporting hand to provide medical facilities to the beneficiaries through the NGOs. Old age is the time when maximum medical care is needed.

  • Sandhya Suraksha Yojana will not only provide  financial assistance to the eligible beneficiaries, but will also extend necessary assistance to the NGOs to set up old age homes to help senior citizens.

  • The NGOs which will assist the Government in implementing this scheme will also issue identity cards to the scheme beneficiaries. For each issue of identity cards, the NGOs will receive a sum of Rs. 25.

  • The government has set up  day care centres to take care of the senior citizen and support them.

  • Help lines have also been set up at various places which will also be assisted by the Police Department and the NGOs. The police will respond to every stress call done by the senior citizen under this scheme.

Eligibility Criteria for Sandhya Suraksha Yojana in Karnataka

Following is the eligibility criteria for applying for Sandhya Suraksha Yojana.

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Karnataka.

  • The age of the applicant should be 65 years and above.

  • The combined annual income of the proposed pensioner and his or her spouse shall not exceed Rs.20,000/- as certified by the local revenue authority.

  • If the income is declared by beneficiary himself / herself, the income of Adult children will not be counted for calculation of the income of the proposed social security pensioner. 

  • The total value of combined deposits held by the pensioner and his spouse shall not exceeding Rs.10,000/-.

  • Persons availing of old age pension, Destitute widow pension or physically handicapped pension or any other form of pension from public or private sources are not eligible for this scheme.

  • The beneficiaries under this scheme will be chosen from the following categories.

    • Small farmers

    • Marginal farmers

    • Agricultural labourers.

    • Weavers

    • Fishermen,

    • Laborers from unorganized sector but it shall not applicable to person covered under the Building and other construction workers (Regulation of Employment and conditions of services) Act 1996.

Documents Required for Sandhya Suraksha Yojana in Karnataka

  • Residence Proof

  • Income certificate

  • Age Proof : Date of Birth with proper proof  (SSLC Marks card, Passport, Driving License, Ration card, T.C or Election Identity card)

  • Domicile certificate

  • Bank passbook

  • Occupational certification to be signed by the Tahsildar of the respective taluk.

Application Procedure for Sandhya Suraksha Yojana in Karnataka

The applicant has to apply only through offline means and for this you can follow the below steps: 

  • Fill up the application form with the required details.

  • Attach the application form along with the required documents.

  • Submit the application form at Gram Panchayat Office or Block, Municipality office at your area.
