An NRI is not eligible to invest under any small saving scheme as per RBI guidelines. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is a small saving scheme, so NRIs can’t open this account. It is a saving scheme by the Government of India targeted at the parents of girl children. This scheme helps parents to save money for the future education and marriage expenses for their female child.
