In 2014, Government of West Bengal formed `Karma Tirtha` hubs across the state to act as a one-stop shop for entrepreneurs to market their products directly to the consumers in rural areas.

'Karma Tirtha' is a scheme to strike a synergy between the abundance of natural indigenous resources and availability of a talented workforce for sustainable entrepreneurship and employment opportunities.

There are 529 Karma Tirthas across the state.

Purpose of Karma Tirtha

The government is providing the requisite infrastructure support including training and finance, thereby allowing individuals, self-help groups, co-operative enterprises, artisans, and weavers to avail of the advantages of the scheme.

The target is to line up a minimum of one 'Karma tirtha' in every block of the State. It acts as a platform of interaction between them and the consumers, buyers, exporters in an organized manner.

Thus, Karma Tirtha provides opportunities for organized marketing facilities and a wider scope for employment generation through the direct and indirect channel.

Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Department, Minority Affairs & Madrassah Education Department, Self-Help Group & Self-Employment Department, Panchayats & Rural Development Department.

How to apply for stalls in Karma Tirtha?

All citizens of West Bengal who are willing to become entrepreneur can apply for the stalls.

After publishing of advertisement an entrepreneur can apply for the stalls via Karma Tirtha portal, through BSK and also in offline mode by submitting hardcopy application to concerned Block Office.

Its free of cost since it’s a Government of West Bengal initiative.
