If it is a clerical mistake, you can request the concerned officer in the department to update the name in the certificate to the original name. This can be done when the officer has accidentally misspelled her name in the certificate even though the  supporting documents to obtain the EWS certificate has her original name.

However, if the supporting documents used to get an EWS certificate also have the name as "Fatma", you have two options.

  • Update the name in each of the supporting documents to Fatima. The process involved in changing the name in the Voter ID card is different from Pan Card.
  • Most of the time for name change in documents, the concerned department will ask for a Gazette Notification. For this, you need to change your name legally. The procedure to change your name is provided in the link below.
