I am from karnataka. I have applied for renewal of driving licence 3 days before lapse date in online. I have uploaded all documents required (old DL & Doctor certificate) & payment done which includes renewal fees postal charges. Do i want to visit RTO office for verification of documents or not. How many days RTO official should complete the process & deliver renewed Driving license. Will RTO official intimate us for verification of documents via call or email. When should I raise complaint after application?

Name of the Service : Renewal of Driving Licence

Whom to approach for this service (Designated Officer)? : DCT/Sr.RTO/RTO/ARTO

Procedure involved to get this service : a) Applicant should submit all the details in the prescribed form along with the required documents b) Application form will be scrutinized then the applicant will be directed to pay the fees c) After paying the fees the transaction will be initiated d) Applicant has to attend oral/written test and the IMV will record the test result e) If Applicant passes the test then transaction data entry will take place f) After data entry is completed the details will be approved by ARTO to generate Learning License Number g) LL will be printed in the Pre-Printed form and it will be authorized. h) Delivery of LL to applicant

Who are eligible to get this service : Any Citizen who are attained 18 years of age

Documents to be enclosed with the request :

1 .  DRIVING LICENCE

2 .  APPLICATION FORM IN NO- 09, MEDICAL FORM

3 .  SELF ADDRESSED STAMPED SPEEDPOST ENVELOPE

4 .  RECENT PASSPORT SIZE PHOTOGRAPH

Fee/Charges to be paid to get the service 200 fee

Maximum number of days to wait to get this service delivered : 7 Working Days

Whom to approach as a appeal (Competent Officer), if the service is not delivered in time or rejected by officer :  Joint Commissioner for Transport (JCT)

Maximum number of days to wait to get the decision of the Competent Officer : 15 Working Days

Whom to approach as 2nd appeal (Appellate Authority), if the decision of the Competent officer is not acceptable or not implemented? : Commissioner for Transport (C.T)

Maximum no. of days to wait to get the decision of Appellate Authority : 30 Working Days

You won't get any call or email.  If the status indicates “Verification of documents” for 2 or 3 weeks, please visit RTO as the uploaded documents may not be legible to approve and move it to next step. 

No need of appointment. Just note your application reference and carry the uploaded documents with you in original.
