I am a 2nd year Engineering student and want to change my name from Kumar Vishal to Vishal Jha. But the problem is that in my 12th and 10th certificate and in graduation certificate too, my name will be  Kumar Vishal. So my question is if it is possible to change my name. Will I face any problem during job interviews because the name will be different. Should I apply for name change now or later?

It is possible to change your name to Vishal Jha. Once you get your name updated through gazette, your name will be Vishal Jha. Keep a copy of the gazette as proof of name change for all your future education and employment purposes.

You can apply for a name change as per the time suitable for you.

If you apply for it now, you can request the College/University to make the required amendments to it in your Engineering Certificate before they print it. In case the certificate contains your old name, you can either get it rectified from University or submit the certificate along with gazette for future purposes.

Video on how to change your name legally is provided below.
