Yes, health insurance is available in India as well. But not exactly comparable to the one available at  UAE. The main difference is the premium that you pay for insurance in India is way too low compared to the UAE, which fairly justifies the features they provide here. 
 

In India, you can buy Insurance for family  and raise claims, in case of  min of 24 Hrs hospitalisation or for day care procedure (around 500+ procedure list available) which needs only few Hours of admission. There are certain plans with OP benefit where medicine purchase, doctor visit are covered but the premium you pay for this is no impressive looking at the usage limit. 
 

The earlier you buy an insurance the better, as there are certain waiting periods applicable for illnesses both existing and non-existing. This varies with the plans.
