Do I need PRC certificate for applying EWS category in Assam, Lakhimpur district? After going through the eligibility formalities, the official rejected at the last moment saying they(he) needs PRC certificate of the concerned candidate.

Guidelines issued by the Government of Assam for EWS certificate doesn't mention anything about documents required for applying for EWS certificate. However, guidelines issued by the neighboring states of Assam such as West Bengal mention the requirement of PRC. So it might be true for Assam as well.

Following documents are required for getting benefits under EWS reservation in West Bengal.

  • Voter ID card or Citizenship Certificate of self or parents

  • PAN card of self or parents

  • Birth Certificate issued by Competent authority/Admit card of certificate of Madhyamik or equivalent examination

  • Pay slip of Self/Parents

  • Income Certificate from prescribed authoritues

  • Residential Certificate

  • RoR/Parcha/Registered Deed

  • Certificate in support of sub-caste from Pradhan of Gram Panchayat, Chairman of Muncipalities, Councillor of Muncipal Corporations

  • Self Declaration in regard to family income, assets and sub-caste in prescribed format.

Also, if you are applying for claiming a seat under State Government quota, PRC is required.

Application form for PRC Certificate is available here.
