Can a newborn baby be enrolled for Aadhaar? If yes, then what about biometrics and required documents?

The UIDAI enrolls residents of all ages, including infants. However, biometric information is not collected for children under the age of 5 years. Their Aadhaar is linked to Aadhaar of one of the parents or guardians. The children need to submit their biometric information (photograph, 10 fingerprints, and two Irises) once they attain the age of 5 years. These biometrics needs to be updated again when they attain 15 years of age.

For children below 5 years, you just need to visit the enrolment center, fill out the enrolment form and enclose the copies of child's birth certificate with your own Aadhaar card. Make sure you carry the originals too to the enrolment center.
If the age of the applicant is less than 5 years, no biometrics will be recorded, only photograph will serve the purpose.
In this case, the child's Aadhaar will be linked to the Aadhaar of his parents. These children will need to update their biometrics of ten fingers, iris and facial photograph, when they turn 5 and 15.
In this case, the child's Aadhaar cannot be made without the parent having an Aadhaar first.
